2. What is PMS?
PMS = Premenstrual Syndrome ! Premenstrual simply means "before your period starts". PMS is not quite that simple. PMS is quite complex and manifests itself very differently in women. PMS simply refers to all the psychological and physical complaints that a woman has before her period starts. These complaints usually start four to 14 days before the period . The list of complaints is quite long - everything from circulatory problems, hot flushes, cravings to depressive moods and anxiety is included!
Every woman has an individual combination of symptoms. There are four types of PMS - types A, C, D and H. Type A has to do with anxiety and irritability, type C with cravings - i.e. cravings especially for sweets, type D describes women who suffer from depressive moods and type H women get water retention before their period. Perhaps you recognize yourself in one or more of these types? Fortunately, the symptoms usually disappear when menstruation starts.

3. Are mood swings normal?
Who doesn't know it? Once a month, (almost) every menstruating woman is in a state of emergency. Hormones drive us and those around us crazy. They make us laugh, cry, hide under the covers, be angry - and all within 5 minutes! And yes, that's NORMAL - during and before your period. Hormones are of course responsible for all the (emotional) chaos. Over time, you'll learn to deal with it. If you feel uncomfortable, for example, it's okay to withdraw - just do what feels right for you!
4. Will I always have a stomach ache?
The bad news first: You may have stomach pain not only during your period but also before it (keyword: PMS). BUT each of your periods can be different . You may also have problems after your period. Sometimes the stomach pain is particularly bad, other times it is mild and sometimes it is not there at all - those are the best days! The best thing to do to relieve the pain is to relax - through yoga or with a hot water bottle in bed. Watch a good film and eat exactly what you want! Whatever feels best for you! ?
