1. Why does my period come a week early?
Sure, getting your period isn't the end of the world. In fact, it's actually a pretty cool thing because it lets you make sure everything is running smoothly down there. But if you have other plans and your period comes without warning, it can be really annoying.
Unpleasant surprise or not, you still start to worry. Is everything OK? Am I perhaps even pregnant?
As a rule *haha* an early period is caused by a change in your hormone levels. This can be caused by a lot of stress, too little sleep or significant changes in your everyday life . It doesn't sound that bad. And it is.
If you still have concerns or your period is generally very irregular, then it's not a bad idea to go to your doctor. Just to have everything checked out.
2. Much too early: period every 2 weeks
Your period isn't just a few days or a week early - you have visitors every two weeks ? FU**... in the long run that's really uncool.
An appointment with the gynecologist is definitely a must. However, we can perhaps save you a bit of a mental jumble.
If your period comes every two weeks, in many cases it is not menstruation at all, but spotting .
This is quite common for many women before ovulation and is actually no cause for concern. Since it is mostly spotting or brown-reddish discharge, you are well prepared with our discharge panties .
However, you should play it safe and ask your doctor for advice.
A corpus luteum deficiency can also be the cause of premature periods. Although this can be easily treated, it is an important issue, especially if you want to have children.
3. What are the causes?
Too much stress can not only stop your period from coming, but can also cause it to start unexpectedly. Both are so-so. After all, we want to get it right on time for the sake of our conscience.
The main cause of an early period is (as already mentioned) a change in your hormone levels.
Often, your own hormone levels are influenced completely unconsciously – by:
- The pill : Hormonal contraceptives can actually cause an early period. This is mainly because the cycle is artificially kept alive. If you stop taking the pill or take a break, your period can start early.
- Stress : Your body knows when you are worried or stressed and releases certain hormones that can affect your period.
- Weight fluctuations : A sudden (drastic!) gain or loss of weight can cause your period to stop or start early.
- Too little sleep : It is not for nothing that they say "sleep is important". If your body does not get enough of it, it lacks strength and energy. This in turn can lead to an early onset of your period.
- Menopause : During certain phases of your life, your body is exposed to particularly strong hormonal fluctuations. This can often also affect your period.
4. Early period - pregnancy?
...may be, but does not have to be.
In fact, an early period can be a sign of pregnancy . However, nothing is certain!
In addition, this is not a classic menstruation, but rather what is known as implantation bleeding. If you think this could be the case for you - go to the gynecologist!
