Can't insert a tampon? So first of all, calm down!

It is important that you are calm and relaxed. It really isn't rocket science. If you follow our steps, using tampons will be child's play. You will quickly notice that wearing organic tampons has all sorts of advantages. Especially in summer! You can go swimming with them without any problems. So it's worth trying!
It's best to start with a small tampon size. It will then be easier to insert! However, keep in mind that a mini tampon has only a low absorbency. What this means for you? That you will have to replace it sooner than a larger tampon.

2. How it works - An introduction

First of all, you obviously need a suitable tampon . We recommend a tampon that is as small as possible and has a low absorbency. For example, our organic mini tampons .

This makes it easier in the beginning.

First, remove the (compostable) foil from the tampon. There are usually instructions on the tampon about how best to open the foil.

After removal, unfold the retrieval strap completely.

Now make yourself comfortable on your toilet seat. Comfortable!!!

As I said, a relaxed posture is important so that your pelvic floor muscles can relax.

This works best if you breathe in and out slowly and try to relax every muscle in your body - relax! This makes inserting your tampon much easier. You can of course also insert the tampon while standing. Some people also lift one leg. So while standing, for example with one leg on the edge of the bathtub. Just try out a few positions.
You will quickly find out which position is best for you to successfully insert your tampon.

Now hold the tampon between your thumb and middle finger .
Place your index finger at the end of the tampon (where the string is attached). Now guide the tampon towards your vagina.
You can also use your thumb and middle finger to push the labia aside and then use your index finger to guide the tampon.
Try to see which direction it is easiest to insert. If you feel resistance, try to concentrate on relaxing again. Breathe! Or change position. Insertion should not hurt under any circumstances.

3. How far does the tampon have to go in?

Insert the tampon diagonally towards the middle of your body until your index finger is completely covered. Only then will it sit deep enough to ensure complete comfort. Otherwise, you will feel it as soon as you move.
And it's important that you don't feel restricted in any way during your period - so insert the tampon deep enough! If you feel resistance, gently change direction.

Tip: Inserting the tampon is particularly easy on the first few days of your period. The bleeding is at its heaviest at the beginning and this makes it easier for the tampon to slide in.

We can reassure you here. No , the hymen cannot be torn or damaged by inserting a tampon. The hymen has a small opening through which the tampon can pass. This is elastic and will only stretch when you insert a tampon.
