1. What is a cup?

Whether cup or cup - this small cup is made of silicone (in our case) and skilfully catches all the blood during the period .

The cup is an alternative to pads, tampons or free bleeding.

What is special about the cup, however, is that it is sustainable, which means that if you take good care of it, you will benefit from it for several years.

Using it is actually quite simple. First you need to make sure your hands are clean before you start inserting. Then you squeeze the cup and gently insert it into your vagina. Precise placement may take a little practice at first, but don't worry, you'll get the hang of it over time.
When placed correctly, the cup unfolds and creates a slight vacuum that prevents leakage. The mugs are available in different sizes, so choose the size that suits you best. Some cups also have small stems on the end for easier removal.

2. Proper removal

Again, to remove the cup, you need to make sure your hands are clean. Then gently grasp the stem or bottom of the cup and slowly pull it out .

Be careful not to squeeze them too hard as this can cause unwanted spilling.
Once the cup is out, empty the contents into the toilet and rinse the cup thoroughly with water . You can also use a mild, fragrance-free soap to clean them.

Make sure all residue is removed before reinserting the cup.

3. Clean in the kettle

The most common way to clean the menstrual cup is with boiling water . If you can do that in a saucepan, then why not with a kettle, right? Incorrect!
Not only that most boil their tea water with it. A kettle will also turn off when the water boils. This means that the menstrual cup cannot be disinfected long enough.

4. Proper cleaning

The menstrual cup should be thoroughly cleaned after each use .

You can either rinse them with warm water or clean them with a special menstrual cup cleaning solution .

It's important to be careful not to leave any soap residue or detergent in the cup, you don't want to introduce detergent down there.
After your menstruation you can sterilize the cup additionally by placing it in boiling water. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to ensure the mug is not damaged. Store the menstrual cup in a clean and dry place until you need it again.

5. Pro tip baking soda

Despite good care , discolouration and odors can occur.

In such cases, baking soda is your very own miracle cure. Simply add a teaspoon of baking soda to the boiling water and let your cup boil out. If the discoloration is still not gone, you can scrub it gently with a toothbrush and baking soda.
This miracle product not only removes the stains on your cups, but also on your favorite white pants. Scrubbing is too annoying for you? Then our menstrual cup is perfect for you. This is red by default and well armed against discoloration.
