Cervical mucus before period - say what? Okay... we admit: When it comes to interpreting our cycle, it can get lost at times. Milky discharge, clear discharge, a lot, little and sometimes nothing at all - phew! Time for us to share some info with you here. Ready for a load of virtual cervical mucus? Here we go.

1. Cervical mucus after ovulation

After your period is before your period. Therefore, the cervical mucus is often very watery and clear after ovulation and the amount should not be underestimated. Panty liners are therefore a welcome guest for many at this time. But beware: It is not recommended to wear panty liners for longer than 3-5 hours, as the air congestion and the resulting moisture quickly create an environment for bacteria in the pantyhose.

2. Why the discharge is pouring right now

If your cervical mucus can be spinned, you are probably in your fertile phase. If you don't want to risk pregnancy at the moment ... you should use reliable contraception NOW (quite apart from the fact that condoms can also protect you from sexually transmitted diseases).
Tip: You can use the "two-finger test" to find out whether your cervical mucus can be spun. Can you pull the slime between two fingers - does it have said spinnable consistency. YAY! The liquid substance makes it easier for a male sperm to find its way to your egg. Don't feel like getting pregnant? Then we recommend safer sex ONLY with a condom. Well, and any other day that you haven't just found Mr. Right.

3. Cervical mucus as a sign of pregnancy

Speaking of pregnant. Can cervical mucus be a sign of pregnancy? While your discharge before your period tends to be viscous, your cervical mucus can actually increase during pregnancy.
If you are in the early stages of pregnancy, the increased discharge can be attributed to increased estrogen levels. So this could be a sign of pregnancy. But if you really want to be on the safe side, you'd better do a pregnancy test right away...

4. Less pre-period discharge

If you ovulated and are not pregnant, your cervical mucus will decrease before your period. Means: less liquid and not spinnable, but creamy, milky and viscous. Because, as already mentioned, if no sperm has fertilized your egg cell, your body will first reduce production. Shortly before your period, you may even have almost no discharge.
Is your cervical mucus RUNNING at full speed? *hihi* Then we recommend our Daysics® . With their slightly absorbent insert, these discharge briefs are designed to prevent the feeling of wet crotch caused by natural discharge in everyday life. Your Daysics® have an extra short and thin insert - for an invisible look - and, unlike conventional panty liners, do not affect breathability.
